Receiver-in-canal: the most common
A very thin casing hides behind the ear, linked by a clear wire to a tiny receiver placed in the canal. From the front, nothing is visible.
It is the most frequently proposed model today, because it combines three qualities rarely found together: natural sound, a barely blocked ear — so none of that head-in-a-jar feeling — and real discretion.
In-the-ear: the most invisible
It is moulded to the impression of your ear canal and sits entirely inside it. Nothing shows behind the ear, nothing is visible in profile.
In return, the available volume is more limited: everything must fit inside the canal, battery included. Measuring your loss is what tells us whether this format suits you.
Which one for you?
There is no "best device" in the abstract, only the one that matches your loss, the shape of your canal and your life. A narrow canal, a severe loss, limited dexterity: each of these shapes the choice.
At the assessment we compare two or three suitable models and explain why. Not a catalogue, a reasoned selection.
What people ask us most.
Is an invisible device less effective?
Not necessarily, but it is more constrained: less room means less available power and shorter battery life. For a mild to moderate loss, the difference is often imperceptible.
Is an ear impression needed?
For an in-the-ear device, yes: it is custom-made. The impression is taken at the centre, in a few minutes, and it is painless.
