Custom hearing protection

Hearing cannot be repaired, only protected. An earplug moulded to your canal holds better, bothers you less, and therefore actually gets worn.

Why custom-made

A standard foam plug slips, itches, and ends up in a pocket after an hour. A moulded plug follows the canal exactly: it holds without pressure, you forget it, and so it does its job for the whole exposure.

Depending on the use, the filter is chosen too: attenuating without muffling for music, isolating firmly for a worksite, sealing completely for water.

Four common uses

  • Sleep — to sleep through street noise or a snoring partner
  • Swimming — to keep the ear dry, essential after certain ear infections
  • Music — a filter that lowers volume without distorting sound, for musicians and audiences
  • Worksite and workshop — strong isolation, comfortable for long wear

How it works

An ear impression takes a few minutes at the centre, and is painless. The plug is then made to your measurements. On collection, we check the fit and show you how to place and care for it.

Noise, the first preventable cause

Noise-induced hearing loss cannot be repaired: destroyed hair cells do not grow back. It is the only form of loss that can genuinely be prevented — and it strikes earlier and earlier.

If you are regularly exposed, a baseline assessment is a good idea, if only to compare in a few years.

What people ask us most.

How long does a custom earplug last?

Several years if cleaned regularly with warm soapy water and dried. It should be remade if the canal changes, after significant weight gain or loss for instance.

Can you still hear with musician protection?

Yes, that is the point of the filter: it lowers the level evenly across all frequencies, so the sound stays faithful, simply quieter.
